Private Workshops

  • School Sessions (half termly basis)

The Drawing Shop is now offering free school sessions for groups of children in years 4-6 (aged 8-11) from primary schools in areas of high deprivation in and around Sheffield.

Over the six weeks of two-hour sessions children will learn mark making techniques and exercises, and will work on their own canvases, building towards an exhibition at the end of the block. Children will be given the freedom to be creative in an interactive workshop led by artist Johnsey, and will work both independently and collaboratively. Each child will also be given a handmade sketchbook, to continue their creativity outside of the shop.

Sessions are now avaiable to book for academic year 2025/26 and will run on a half-termly basis on:

    Tuesdays 10am-12pm | Tuesdays 1pm-3pm | Thursdays 10am-12pm

For more information, please contact us.

  • Children's Group Workshops

The Drawing Shop can be hired for private children’s workshops. The space can accommodate up to 20 children, plus adults.

During the 2 hour session children will take part in a workshop with artist Johnsey, practice mark making to music, and have the creative freedom to play and draw however they’d like to. The session includes private rental of the entire space, plus a 10m roll of paper to be filled, which can then be taken home.

There are no kitchen facilities, but you are welcome to bring food and drink along.

For fees and booking, please contact us.

  • Day Services and Community Groups

Day services and community groups are more than welcome to come along to our free open shop sessions - we ask you to ring ahead if you are bringing a group of 10 or more.

However, if a private closed shop session is more suitable for your group, please get in touch to discuss fees and bookings.

  • Private Workshops
